Switchport view: VLAN, duplex, speed and link state per port.

What it does

The switching counterpart to `show ip interface brief`. Shows the access VLAN or 'trunk', and negotiated speed/duplex, which is where mismatches surface.

Useful variations

Pitfalls

The misreadings that actually cost people time.

  • A half-duplex Ethernet port on a modern switch nearly always means autonegotiation failed — check for a hard-coded speed on one end only.
  • 'notconnect' is no link; 'disabled' is a shutdown; 'err-disabled' is a protection mechanism that fired.
